9th Meeting of the Russia-Pakistan Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation

On December 2-4, 2024, Moscow hosted the 9th Meeting of the Russia-Pakistan Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.

Experts from both countries discussed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, with a focus on cooperation in finance, banking, transport, energy, industry, education, science and agriculture.

December 4 saw the IGC Plenary Session, co-chaired by the Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev and Pakistani Power Minister Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, where the two sides took stock of the expert consultations and sign the final protocol and a number of bilateral documents.

Sergey Tsivilev and Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari noted the constructive nature of the bilateral political dialogue, including contacts at the highest level, as well as productive cooperation within international organizations. The two sides expressed their readiness to implement the decisions of the IGC in a consistent manner.

Steps were agreed to prepare a roadmap for the construction of a new steel mills in Karachi. The meeting also saw the signing of 8 bilateral documents in the fields of energy, education, medicine and trade.

The sides agreed to hold the 10th Meeting of the IGC in Pakistan in 2025.
